Green Hydrogen

GEG ehf. is working on establishing our own product offering in green hydrogen, alongside our other current projects and operations.

According to IRENA, green hydrogen could become cost-competitive by 2030, and can help to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions in more energy-intensive industries (such as steel and aviation). Such sectors are historically challenging to decarbonize, making the future production of green hydrogen crucial to expand, as is finding a sustainable manner for this process.

Green hydrogen is primarily produced via water electrolysis, using renewable electricity. This production process could be effectively powered entirely by geothermal energy in this manner. As pioneers and innovators within the industry, GEG aims to become involved in the production of clean, carbon-neutral hydrogen and to eventually establish it as a major offering within our company’s Products and Services.
